About the Competition:

Write a short story about: ‘Our Planet’ 

For example: share how we can reduce our carbon footprint, how we can keep our oceans clean or what do you do to look after our planet? Be creative, and keep it positive!

Essay length: Max 500 words (½ page to 1-page A4).

The Reedz writing competition is aimed to stimulate aspiring authors, while at the same time supporting curricular coursework. Having your story published as an audiobook in 25+ languages, gives tremendous exposure to budding writers, and university applicants.

Categories: 
By children for children:
A) 8-10: An essay supporting the central essay idea. To be edited by an adult who needs to be mindful to preserve the ideas and concepts of the author. Don’t forget to spell and grammar check the essay before submitting.
B) 10-12: An essay supporting the central essay idea. Don’t forget to spell and grammar check the essay before submitting.
C) 13-15: An essay supporting the central essay idea. Don’t forget to spell and grammar check the essay before submitting.
D) 16-18: An essay supporting the central essay idea. Don’t forget to spell and grammar check the essay before submitting.

Important information about this writing competition
Entry fee: none
Entries open until 4th of June 2021
The essay may be submitted in any language featured on the Reedz app.
Be mindful and respectful of cultural, political, and religious subject matters.
Story must be written for a junior audience between the ages of 8-18 years old.
Only original and unpublished submissions will be accepted.
Entries will be judged by an in-house panel of editors employed by Reedz.
Reedz reserves the right to edit submitted essays to make them suitable for audio publishing.
Reedz reserves the right to remove published essays without prior notice to the authors.

Writing Competition Prizes:  
The 10 best essays will be published on the Reedz audiobook app, and translated in the 25+ languages/dialects featured on the app. The 10 best essay authors (class/ school) will be featured in the Reedz newsletter, and on social media (with consent of the parent/ guardian of the author(s)), and receive a free 1-year Reedz audiobook membership.

Once published, the winning essays can be heard by thousands of people across the globe and in their native languages, and are great publicity for aspiring authors.
